CAMPGROUNDS NEAR BLACK ROCK CITY
Below is a sampling of some of your options for camping or parking your RV before and after the Burning Man event. We recommend calling to check availability and rates. Please remember that in Black Rock country life moves at a slower pace than you may be used to. The behavior of each individual Burning Man participant when they visit the areas surrounding the Black Rock Desert reflects on the entire Burning Man community. Please be courteous and friendly to local residents, dress appropriately, and behave as you would in any small community so that we can leave a positive and respectable impression upon local community members.
Pyramid Lake
Pyramid Lake, known for its stark beauty, unusual wildlife and fisheries, has about 110,000 surface acres and a shoreline of 125 miles. It is 15 miles long and 11 miles wide and up to 350 feet deep, fed by the Truckee River from Lake Tahoe, and located on Paiute tribal land. Permits required even if you just pull off the road to swim, hike, or take a break by the lake. Please be respectful and do your part by purchasing a permit if you stop at Pyramid Lake. Tent camping is allowed on all the beaches surrounding the lake. Permits are required and are $9 per night (includes day use permit) and are available at the I-80 Smokeshop in Wadsworth (the easiest place to pick one up), the Pyramid Lake Marina and Minimart (RV parking is also available at the Marina), at the Pyramid Lake Store (775-476-0555), the Nixon Store, most Longs Drugs locations in Reno.

Fernley
Truck Inn - Very large truck stop with at 26-unit RV park and 53 motel rooms. 775-351-1000. There are several other reasonably priced motels in Fernley.
Wadsworth
I-80 Campground I-80 Exit 43, State Rt. 447. 775-575-2181 or 887-872-4883 15 RV sites. Pull thru, dump station, store, tent sites, gas, propane, fishing.
Winnemucca
3-4 hours from Gerlach - Go on NV - 447 South for about 75 miles, go left on NV 427 and then after 2.5 miles onto I 80 East. Go 130 miles.

Lassen Volcanic National Park
Lassen enfolds 106,000 acres of forested foothills and volcanic relics just north of where the Sierra Nevada peter out. Located about eight miles northeast of Mineral, CA, or fifty miles east of Red Bluff, CA on Highway 36 or 50 miles east of Redding, CA on Highway 44 - a 5-6 hour drive from Gerlach - go south on NV back to I 80 West. Go about 28 miles and then merge onto US-395 N via exit number 15 toward Susanville. US-395 N becomes CA-36 which will take you past Mineral to the Park.
All campgrounds operate on a first come, first served basis; no reservations. Camp only in developed and designated campgrounds; roadside camping is not permitted. Park only on designated parking pads. Two vehicles are allowed per site. Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. Open fires are prohibited except in government provided fire rings. Lassen has black bears; store all food and garbage properly. Lassen Chalet is open with food services and gift shop in the summer. RV's may park overnight in the Chalet's parking lot for $6.00 per night. Register at the Southwest campground. Contact 530-595-4444 for more information.![]()
